In 2017 the 68th International Astronautical Congress became Adelaide and South Australia’s largest ever business event. Now the Premier of South Australia, in a joint announcement with the Australian Prime Minister, has unveiled Adelaide as the home of Australia’s new AU$41 million Space Agency. Could this be the largest-ever legacy of a Australian business event?

In News, The Meetings Show and Iceberg partner Meetings & Incentive Travel have jointly launched a new initiative championing young event planners: Tomorrow’s Talent. Finalists have also been announced for the M&IT Awards 2019, which take place on Friday March 1st at Battersea Evolution in London.
In venue News, the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre has been enlarged by 3,800 square metres to accommodate a single event, iGaming expo SIGMA. The sector accounts for over 12 percent of local GDP. Viparis has announced its first solar tarpaulin, installed on the Paris Nord Villepinte gallery. The Arena and Convention Centre Liverpool marked its tenth birthday at Abbey Road Studios in London, where guests recorded the Beatles’ “With a Little Help from My Friends” and watched celebrity birthday wishes on video.
In event News, the Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau won its bid to host the International Congress and Conferences on Computational Design and Engineering 2019. Back in Australia, Brisbane won the first foreign annual meeting of the US-based Society for Freshwater Science. Cairns Convention Centre will host the 2021 International Society for Plant Molecular Biology Congress.
