In this video double-bill, AC Forum – the gold standard of associations in Europe – convened its annual Congress at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) in January with impact and sustainability front and centre of the agenda.
In partnership with the venue, Glasgow Convention Bureau, the entire Board of Directors, and local universities, the organisation devoted the opening day to an Association Masterclass for young students of tourism and event management to learn about – and be inspired to pursue – careers in association management. Moderated by the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) senior executive, Maraika Black, both students and faculty were exposed to insights never previously shared of the career pathways available – but most importantly the positive impacts that such a career offers.
Who better than Black to share her experiences?
All for purpose, not for profit – AC Forum inspired over 60 students to pursue a career in the sector
AC Forum and Sustainability Leadership
AC Forum also stamped its sustainability credentials by signing up to the Net Zero Carbon Events Movement administered by the Joint Meetings Industry Council (JMIC) at the very same venue where it was conceived at COP26 in 2021. Alexander Alles, Executive Director of JMIC, was there to co-sign the pledge with AC Forum President, Ben Hainsworth. In this video, Alles explains the significance of the organisation’s commitment to decarbonisation of its, and its members, decarbonisation of events and introduces access to the new AI-toolkit to accelerate change – the Sustainability Hub for Events (SHE) – co-created by Gevme and the Strategic Alliance of the National Convention Bureaus of Europe (SANCBE).
