IMEX CEO and Iceberg Trustee, Carina Bauer, sets the scene for what will be a barometer of market sentiment in light of geopolitics. Filmed at AIME 2025 in Melbourne, much water has passed under the Yarra River bridge since. Nevertheless, Bauer reflects the ability of the sector to maintain its positivity.
The theme of the event this year is IMPACT 2.0 based on 3 key pillars of intent, she explains: to attract future leaders and NextGen talent into the sector, applying the Science of Social Connection to optimise the Return on Human Relationships, and De-Risking the Future through the Legacy of Business Events and maintain the social license to operate.

If ever a Policy Forum was needed it is now. IMEX can, as always, be relied upon for the delivery of its platform for advocacy and is to be moderated by urbanist Prof. Greg Clark CBE, whose understanding of the role of business events as a strategy to advance city goals and strategies is unsurpassed.
The Iceberg sees IMEX 2025 the first significant opportunity for setting the record straight on two key points. Firstly that business & professional events are an opportunity to harmonise disquiet through trust. Secondly, the Sector recognises that the US policies towards its professional, public sector, and healthcare professionals are not the construct of our stakeholders over the pond. They remain as our close friends and colleagues requiring reassurance and, wherever possible, a level playing field to compete or participate.
IMEX will present the opportunity to ‘Hug an American’ – be sure to use it!
