IMEX 2017 in Frankfurt saw the launch of one initiative rather complementary in its aims to what the Joint Meetings Industry Council and The Iceberg are also trying to achieve.
ICCA – the International Congress and Convention Association – and BestCities Global Alliance announced that associations whose meetings have a great legacy story to tell will be able to apply for financial grants to further these programmes and showcase the real value of their meetings.
“Incredible Impacts” will award three grants of $7,500 each to great examples of “beyond tourism” programmes. Knowledge or skills transfer in developing countries, improving healthcare or environmental outcomes, and the advancement of future leaders are all among the ideas an independent jury will assess and judge.
