The Strategic Alliance of the National Convention Bureaux of Europe has published an update of its 2020 study on The Impact of Coronavirus on Europes Convention Sector. The new report, prepared by Tourism Economics, provides three recovery scenarios to reflect the possible range of developments given the level of uncertainty about how the pandemic situation will evolve over the coming months.
The baseline scenario assumes a rapid recovery in 2022 after removal of restrictions. The upside scenario assumes earlier easing of restriction and the minimal additional use of hybrid and and virtual platforms over the years ahead. The downside scenario assumes the continued prevalence and effects of the virus leading to restrictions persisting into 2022, many conferences continuing to be completely virtual while others held as hybrid events.
