This is the third year in which IMEX has had an annual “Talking Point”, a thread and a story that runs through both shows and all year long. In 2017, the concept was “Purposeful Meetings”, which was followed by “Legacy” in 2018.
To help demonstrate this year’s idea of “Imagination” in concrete and practical terms, IMEX conducted a voluntary survey and also reviewed 350 events worldwide to identify the most imaginative ideas in three key areas:
- Diversity and inclusivity
- Transformation and collaboration
- Sustainability
The majority of survey responses came from event planners and a select few from venues. IMEX’s own research into global events covered 50 countries across eight regions. The focus was on business events, with 59 percent falling into the conference category, which included a mix of corporate, association and educational conferences, and another 32 percent falling into the trade show category.
